Lana Del Rey Says She's Been Working On a Musical

Latest

Lana Del Rey, whose imagination can turn Coachella into a battleground, is reportedly writing a musical.

In a new interview for L’Officiel USA, Del Rey answered questions from several celebrities like Grimes, Stevie Nicks, Kim Kardashian West, and more. And in response to a question from a fan asking if she would ever write her own movie Rey replied that she was actually writing a musical:

I thought about writing a biopic about someone that wasn’t real. Actually, I was asked to write a musical, which I’ve started. It was for Broadway. I may finish in two or three years. Me and Rick have written something, so we’ll see.

The Rick in question is most likely Rick Nowels, a frequent collaborator on all of her records and a writer for Madonna, Stevie Nicks, and Belinda Carlisle, to name a few.

I’m not typically a fan of musicals but Lana’s dreary touch would bring me to a theater. Considering her relationship with Stevie Nicks (the two sing a song on Del Rey’s last record) I wouldn’t be surprised if she’ll eventually be the mastermind behind a Broadway musical about the singer-songwriter. Or maybe she’s writing a fictional story, probably about a teen girl growing up in the 1960s who becomes radicalized at Woodstock and falls into a biker gang. There are a lot of options!
