Katy Perry Is the Highest-Paid Woman in Music

Latest

Katy Perry is sitting on a throne of cash, thanks to the $135 million she made this past year. Forbes put Perry in first place of their Top Earning Women in Music list for 2015 — a big jump from her fifth place position last year. Perry’s nemesis, Taylor Swift, came in second at $80 million.

“I am proud of my position as a boss, as a person that runs my own company,” Perry told Forbes in June. “I’m an entrepreneur… I don’t want to shy away from it. I actually want to kind of grab it by its balls.” According to Variety, Perry’s earnings were largely due to her 126-city Prismatic World Tour, which grossed more than $2 million per stop. When it came to merchandise sales, Perry averaged $20 per person each night. She also scored endorsement deals with Claire’s, Coty and Covergirl.

Fleetwood Mac came in third place, with Lady Gaga following after. Beyoncé, who was the top earner of last year, came in fifth with 54.5 million.
