There's really only one word to sum up the finale of Kourtney & Kim Take New York: Boxes. As their stay in New York was coming, everyone was packing up their clothes and belongings, and when confronted with Kris' boxes, Kim finally realized—given the tangible analogy provided by said boxes—that she didn't have room in her home for his clothes and didn't have room in her life for a husband. But before she arrived at that conclusion, there were so many conversations about the boxes. Kim wanted Kris' boxes shipped to Minnesota. He waned to ship his boxes to L.A. Kourtney agreed with Kris' idea about the boxes. Kim was having panic attacks just thinking about the boxes, and eventually, the boxes—and the loveless marriage they represented—made her cry. She called Khloe and Lamar and told them about the boxes. She had a heart-to-heart with Scott about the boxes. In the end, Kris wanted to make Kim happy, so he compromised and put the boxes in storage. A week later she filed for divorce. In an interview segment—no doubt taped well after their breakup—Kim admits that she's lived her life as an open book, saying, "I film everything, but there comes a time when you kind of just have to handle your issues privately." And thus, the Kardashian's reality empire transitions into a new season of Khloe & Lamar. More »

On last night's episode of Kourtney & Kim Take New York, the girls had a reading with famed psychic medium John Edward. He was able to get in touch with their late father, Robert Kardashian, who had some news for them: Kourtney is pregnant and Kim will get a divorce. According to Kim, they got their reading on the anniversary of their father's death, meaning that John Edward picked up on Kourtney being pregnant when she was just one week along. This also means that this teary conversation about Kim's failing marriage happened on September 30, which was two weeks before she had her (staged) initial revelation in Dubai that things weren't working out. After proof was discovered that the Kardashians have been filming scenes for Kourtney & Kim Take New York after she filed for divorce from Kris Humphries in order to make Kim look more sympathetic (or to make it appear that there were even any visible problems in the brief marriage), it's difficult to watch this show without thinking that all of the scenes in which Kim is talking about her relationship were filmed after the fact, like her heart-to-heart with Khloe on last night's episode. You might find the allegations of worker mistreatment at the factories that produce several of the Kardashian family's numerous clothing and accessories licenses horrifying, disgusting, or even sadly unsurprising. Kris Jenner has a different word: Libelous. The Kardashians have called Star magazine's claims that child labor and forced labor are taking place at Chinese factories that make Kardashian tchotchkes baseless, and have sued the magazine. Also on the sue list is the Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights, which was one of Star's sources in its investigation. IGLHR director Charles Kernaghan said — on TMZ, natch — that his organization had already been investigating factories that manufacture for the Kardashian brands when Star called, but admitted that he personally had not visited the factories in question and seen the conditions first-hand. "We haven't finished our research," said Kernaghan, "but what I'm saying is that with every research campaign we have done in China, you always come up with nasty sweatshop conditions." On last night's edition of Kourtney And Kim Take New York, the marriage of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries continued to implode before our very eyes. And for yet another episode in what's sure to be a season filled with tense arguments between the newlyweds, I couldn't look away. This week's kerfuffle? Bearing children, and where to raise them. Under normal circumstances, you might think that it wouldn't really be this big of a deal to decide upon the town to settle down in post-nuptials. But when you're a Kardashian who splits time between cities but "lives and dies in LA" and a free agent in the NBA who would rather live in rural Minnesota than anywhere else, things get a little more complex. Last week, Kim Kardashian's momager, Kris Jenner, appeared on GMA and was asked whether or not Kim would be asked to return her large engagement ring. Jenner's response: "I hate an Indian giver. It's a gift, you know." The National Congress Of American Indians issued a statement regarding the phrase "indian giving," calling it wrong and hurtful.
