Two decades after the release of Independence Day, the long-awaited sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence, is here with its first trailer. “I spent 20 years trying to get us ready for this,” says Jeff Goldblum’s character, David Levinson, in the clip. “We used their technology to strengthen our planet. But it won’t be enough.”

The sequel will show Earth being threatened again by extraterrestrials who have even stronger weapons than before, reports Variety. Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Sela Ward and Charlotte Gainsbourg all appear in the sequel as new characters, with It Follows’ Maika Monroe taking over Mae Whitman’s role as President Whitmore’s daughter. Along with Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner and Judd Hirsch are reprising their roles from the first film.

Independence Day: Resurgence will be released in theaters on June 24, 2016.
