J.K. Rowling and Warner Brothers are continuing the relationship that made them billions with the Harry Potter series, teaming up for a new franchise based off one of Harry's textbooks, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander. According to Variety, Rowling says that the story is not a prequel or sequel to Harry Potter "but an extension of the wizarding world. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, 70 years before Harry’s gets underway.” Expecto Patronum! etc etc.
