Hurray! There's another movie adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks movie and the trailer is out! Let's obsess over every second of it, shall we?

It's filled with typical teenage longing suppressed by stodgy fathers who only want "what's best" for their children and therefor force the two lovers apart that we're used to movies like this, plus James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan. From the movie's official YouTube page (which has exactly one video. OK).

Based on the bestselling novel by acclaimed author Nicholas Sparks, The Best of Me tells the story of Dawson and Amanda, two former high school sweethearts who find themselves reunited after 20 years apart, when they return to their small town for the funeral of a beloved friend. Their bittersweet reunion reignites the love they've never forgotten, but soon they discover the forces that drove them apart twenty years ago live on, posing even more serious threats today. Spanning decades, this epic love story captures the enduring power of our first true love, and the wrenching choices we face when confronted with elusive second chances.

I love every single word in that paragraph. Also, the late actor Paul Walker was originally cast as the lead in this movie. After he passed away, Marsden stepped into the role.

Looks like we have another contender for a movie to publicly disavow as corny, syrupy chick flick fluff that we secretly bawl our eyes out over after two bottles of pinot greeg and a rather unfortunate phone call to an old college boyfriend. (Did I ever tell you guys about the time my boyfriend found me on the couch, at 3 a.m., crying over 50 First Dates? Yeah, and I'm never going to.

The Best of Me is scheduled for release Oct. 17. So you'll have to wait a while to get your cry on.
