Instagram Suspends Grace Coddington For Posting a Drawing of Nipples

Instagram, a photo sharing app based around the principles of whimsical photo filters and screaming whenever you even think about a human breast, is up to its old tricks: Vogue creative director Grace Coddington had her account suspended, then reinstated, after she put up a pencil drawing of herself topless. In the drawing, her nipples looked like this: ( . . ) Thank goddess someone is keeping all that smut off the 'net!

According to The Cut, Coddington uploaded the drawing — which was meant to promote her Paddle8 "No Clothes" auction — on Friday morning. Within 24 hours, her entire account was gone, because she'd been found in violation of Instagram's no-nudity clause (should have drawn a lil' triangle-shaped bikini to cover those miniscule dots that functioned as representational nipples!).

After some protest from the teeming masses, Coddington's account was restored. A rep from the app told The Cut, "When our team processes reports from other members of the Instagram community, we occasionally make a mistake. In this case, we wrongly removed content and worked to rectify the error as soon as we were notified. We apologize for any convenience [sic, I presume]."

In response to this whole debacle, Coddington posted a censored picture of her cats, which is an optimal way to have the final word:

For comparison's sake: Bizarro World Justin Bieber Cody Simpson Instagrammed a picture of his actual naked butt on Sunday. Though the photo was taken down, his account was not suspended — which seems kind of inequitable? I mean, I don't know what strange mechanisms transpire behind the InstaVeil — maybe it was a genuine mistake, who knows — but I feel do qualified to give this one piece of advice: seriously, guys, chill about the nipples. Everyone has them. It's okay.

It's like Instagram doesn't even feel bad about chasing Rihanna off and sending us all into deep mourning.
