I'm Not Saying You're Gonna Get E. Coli If You Go to Chipotle, I'm Just Saying Be Careful

Latest

Remember when Chipotle shut down 43 restaurants in Oregon and Washington earlier this month because of an E. coli outbreak? Well I hate to break it to you, my brothers and sisters of the burrito bowl, but it’s gotten a whole lot worse.

Business Insider reports that the outbreak “has spread to six states”: Washington, California, Minnesota, Ohio, Oregon, and New York. Almost 48 people have been infected with E. coli.

In a statement, Chipotle said:

“The source of the problem appears to have been contained during a period in late October…In response to this incident, Chipotle has taken aggressive steps to make sure its restaurants are as safe as possible. There have been no reported new cases in Washington or Oregon since Chipotle put its remediation plan into effect.”

This is sort of like that scene about an hour into Outbreak where Rene Russo and Dustin Hoffman can’t figure out why hospital patients outside the quarantined room are getting the deadly virus and then Dustin looks up at the air conditioning vent and the camera zooms in on his face and he’s like, “IT’S AIRBORNE,” but with E. coli and burritos instead of Motaba and cute lil monkeys.
