I'm just going to get this out of the way and say it: Sue Shefman is my hero. If you don't know her by now, you will soon: the weekend edition of ABC's World News Tonight featured a piece on Suefman and her extreme love of the hippopotamus and odds are high that TLC is already banging down this woman's door to give her a reality show. Here's why: the woman is not only obsessed with anything hippo-related (trinkets, clothes, figurines) but has an SUV that's been given eyes, a mouth, and a tail so that it looks like an actual hippo. She may be the first hippo hoarder we've ever heard of, but she also seems to be a good person. Think about it: who else would drive around town in a hippo-mobile around town and uses her remote control to whistle and wink at random people walking down the street? A potential tragedy had a happy ending thanks to the heroism of Antonio Diaz Chacon, a 24-year-old mechanic and father of two young girls. On Monday afternoon in Albuquerque, Diaz Chacon saw a man pull a girl into his van as a neighbor yelled at him to let her go. Diaz Chacon immediately jumped in his black pickup and chased the van through several neighborhoods. A terrier cross pup named Leo risked his life on Sunday to keep guard over a litter of four kittens in a burning house in Melbourne, Australia. Firefighters say that Leo refused to leave the kittens' side in the burning house, despite the thick smoke and immense danger. The firefighters who discovered the pets had to revive Leo with oxygen and heart massage after the ordeal. Here is a heroic story to start off the weekend: Louise Zoller, mom of two, was picking up her children from daycare when she walked in on a man with a gun who was searching for his estranged wife, a daycare worker. The children and the teacher were huddled together in a bathroom and instead of freaking out when the man began firing, Louise knocked the gun out of his hand and gave it to police.
