I have a super gross beauty ? I was hoping a smart Jezzie could help me with! I wore 4 inch heels, then shoved my poor feet into tiny booties the past two days (which I NEVER do, but looked bangin') and my feet are soooo mad today. Like at least two huge blisters on my toes, and my heels are mad cut up. Any advice to make the blisters go down? They're the angry swelling kind that look like they're about to pop. I'm planning on giving my feet some R&R today with maybe a foot bath and a nice pedi, but any home tips? Hot water or cold water? And it's definitely flip flops for the next couple days. owwww
@DinosaurDanceParty: Pop them. Carefully, and with something that's been sterilized. Then have a nice long soak. Then put BandAid blister bandages on top of them - those things save my feet.
@DinosaurDanceParty: I say don't pop them! Blisters are filled with plasma solution that help your skin grow and heal itself beneath the blister and if you pop it you lose that plasma-y goodness.
@DinosaurDanceParty: I second SomeAuthorGirl. You want to drain the blisters before they pop. I usually sterilize a sewing needle & puncture it at the base. Gently push the fluid out. Clean, & apply a bandage. If it pops on it's own, the skin will probably tear & take longer to heal.
@DinosaurDanceParty: Do not pop them! Wear flip flops and go buy some bandaids made specifically for blisters. They are like MAGIC. They stay on for days and days and then, when you take them off, the blisters are gone or healed enough that if skin comes off with the bandaid it won't be painful. I somehow managed to get about 7 blisters while at Disney (including on the soles of my feet, which hurt like nothing else) and these got rid of six of them without any complications and the 7th appeared to pop, drain, and begin to heal on its own under the bandaid.
@DinosaurDanceParty: another vote for not popping them - they hurt more and are more likely to get infected and take longer to heal. slather some antibiotic cream on them, maybe a plaster (sorry, band-aid) and just wait for them to heal.
@Her Grace: Nerdfighter!: Thanks! MayoClinic says to drain it but I'm kind of grossed out at the moment. And unfortunately they're on my big toes in a very bad spot for bandages! D:
@DinosaurDanceParty: When I was a rower, my coach told us to put benzoyl peroxide (basically, zit cream) on our blisters instead of popping them, because it will dry them out and make them heal faster.
