So, I'm pet sitting right now (I mentioned this on Sat. night social, actually) and while the home gym continues to be awesome...

One of their cats got hit by a car on Sunday. Okay, so this wasn't my fault because it is an indoor/outdoor cat and such things happen but I still feel terrible. Now kitty is hurt and sad but also happy from the painkillers. This means that he thinks he can do all types of stuff he really can't do in a cast and gets irritated when I stop him. Also, he is old and has never used a litter box before and is completely perplexed by it. And their other cat is sure as shit not going outside again until they get home (I am returning all of their animals to them alive).

I'm on the couch being stared down and I have never felt such hatred before.

@alwayswrite: Yeah, kitty cats + pain killers + handicapping condition = bad times.

When my kitty got neutered, she was flying hiiiiiiiigh the entire rest of the day. Her pupils were dilated and she spent the entire day thinking she could fly. At one point, she started staring at a lamp, then climbed up on the table and licked the lightbulb. I guess it was hot, because she jumped down and started staring at the TV for about 10 minutes.

@alwayswrite: Do they let you give the cat treats? I'd be spoiling that poor baby right now.

@alwayswrite: Stick him in the bathtub with the litter box. He'll hate that, too, but any messes will be much easier to clean up.

Signed,

Someone who has taken care of far too many cats after car accidents.

@alwayswrite: Wow, what a nightmare! Worst case scenario, almost. Glad the cat lived.

@Lymed: No, but I'm sure that slices of turkey do not count as treats ;-)

@la.donna.pietra: He gets put in the mud room when I'm not watching him, which has a tile floor and is pretty easy to clean up. But yes, this makes him pretty damn grumpy.
