You know pheromones? Those elusive sorta smells that cosmetics companies are always trying to bottle and sell to help us find romance through beauty products? Turns out they're the very thing that make girls have sex, well, like girls. It's pheromones, researchers have just discovered, that suppress male sexual behaviors in females. (Or at least that's what happened with a bunch of mice — who started humping like it was nobody's business when their pheromones were suppressed.) Conclusion? That deep down, we chicks are nasty knee-humpers too. [MSNBC]

I always knew this about myself.
@hystericalredhead: Me too. I have known it since I was 18, and read something about there being a connection between female nipple hair and sex drive.
@Lipservice: Nipple hair...And the connection was what? More = higher sex drive?? Hmm.
I just know I'm a little sex fiend forever trying hard to appear seemly in polite company...damn the man for keeping me down!
@hystericalredhead: That's the one. For me at least, it applied fully. I've often thought about using it as a come-on line, something like; "Hey, the hair can be got rid of, the sex drive not so much. Grrrr, roaaar, get in my pants, etc."
I wish the man would keep me down more often! (nudge nidge, wink wink, it had to be said)
@Lipservice: Harhar! I can be kept down, or I might just go down on my own, LOLzrs!!1!!
ok that's enough out of both of us ;)
Just to clarify the article:
Pheromones in humans are putative- meaning that it has not been empirically proven that they indeed exist. Secondly, the vomeronasal organ- mentioned in the article- does not exist in humans. We simply have a vomeronasal pit left behind by our evolution. This pit has not yet been conclusively connected to brain function, at all.
Moral of this shiznit: save your moolah for that new Prada Cavallino Ghepardo bag (*loves*), not pheromone crapola! :)
