Here's what we know about new Attorney General nominee Michael Mukasey: he is a Republican with Terror War cred thanks to sentencing the Blind Sheik to life, and so the only possible reason we haven't heard from him in the six intervening years since al Qaeda first granted Bush license to give our country a taste of autocratic theocracy is that he's not completely batshit insane. More evidence of that: Chuck Schumer likes him, he's from New York, and he did not make it on the president's shortlist for Supreme Court nominations. Also: he's a judge, which means he's had to think a little on "justice," which will be a new thing for this White House.
