Golden Globes Website Lists Selma As Winner Two Days Early

Latest

Someone over at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association may have just fucked up big time. Earlier this afternoon, the official website for the Golden Globes had Selma listed as the 2014 best motion picture, drama — taking the place of 2014’s actual winner, 12 Years A Slave. The 2015 winners are not set to be announced until Sunday’s ceremony.

This is what the site was showing:

It was later “fixed” showing 12 Years A Slave as the winner, but incorrectly labeling it at Selma.

The error has now been fully corrected on the site:

The mix-up, caught by The Guardian, could be an honest mistake but, boy, what a mistake to make. Selma is considered to be a front-runner for the best picture award, making it much more plausible that the film has, indeed, already won.

We’ll likely have to wait until Sunday to find out if this was just an unfortunate bug or not, but a possible early congratulations to Ava DuVernay and sincere condolences to the currently unemployed person who did this.
