The Academy Awards are imminent, breathing down our collective necks with their gowns and speeches and glad-handing, and we at Dirtcast are ready and willing and able to discuss every single facet!

In lieu of discussing the dirtiest celebrity dirt of the week, we were joined by the often-replicated but never-duplicated Joanna Rothkopf and Bobby Finger, who are really the only two people who possess opinions about film that we are remotely interested in. We engaged in lively and sparkling dialogue about the movies nominated for Hollywood’s biggest night.

“I think that when voters hear ‘fuck’ enough times, they think that what they’re hearing is good,” Rothkopf said while discussing Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri—an astute point that more movie watchers could stand to think about whilst consuming content that is positioned as “prestige.” We also covered the thrill that is Phantom Thread, the itinerant and louche charm of Tim-o-TEE Chalamet, and shared with each other—and you, blessed listeners—our very exclusive and exciting Oscar predictions.
