Rachel Rabbit White recently visited her favorite vintage shop and picked up a couple of old Playgirl issues from the 1970s—you know, America's sex-positive years. While reading an issue from 1973, she discovered a most shocking, ouchy story.

As White notes in this YouTube reading, the author of the Playgirl piece was woman who had lots of circumcision-seeking friends. They—and eventually the article writer herself—sought out the procedure in order to fix their "hooded clitoris" issues, which apparently was a pleasure-hindering, widespread problem (blame Richard Nixon?):
