				Last night, the Powers that Be gathered in Washington DC for the annual Nerd Oscars&mdash; the President's State of the Union address. There were ties in primary colors, John Boehner's aggressively orange skin, that hug between the President and Gabrielle Giffords that made everyone cry, plenty of clapping, and more standing and sitting than a Catholic mass. 				The income gap between men and women may actually be a gap between men with a traditional outlook on gender roles and everyone else.  A new study finds that men who believe in traditional roles for women make more money than men who don't.  The wage gap between men who think they should be making more than women was 10 times as large as the pay gap between men and women with more egalitarian views.  Women with more egalitarian views don't make much more than women with traditional views, so both groups are equally screwed.  "When workers' attitudes become more traditional, women's earnings relative to men suffer greatly," says study co-author Timothy Judge, an organizational psychologist at the University of Florida. 				The world is not a fair place, I think we all know that. When UK Equality Minister <a href="http://jezebel.com/5019925/harriet-harman-wants-english-women-to-make-more-money">Harriet Harman recently called for employers to disclose wage disparities</a>, plenty of people were willing to say that women <em>choose</em> to make less then men in order to spend more time with their kids or to seek less professional, more personal fulfillments. But even beyond the issue of supposed choice, <a href="http://www.womendontask.com/stats.html">studies by and large show that women don't negotiate on salary as successfully as men</a> for a variety of reasons, which might also contribute to the wage gap.
