DOMA Hero Edith Windsor Reflects on Life After Love

CelebritiesNews

Over the weekend, Ariel Levy, who wrote a beautiful profile of DOMA star Edith Windsor for the New Yorker, interviewed Windsor during the New Yorker festival. We already knew Windsor was an articulate and beautiful human, but boy did she prove it yet again.

The entire interview is available to watch online, but to Levy (and the rest of us), this exchange was the best part:

The high point of the event came when a member of the audience asked Windsor, whose spouse of over four decades, Thea Spyer, died in 2009, “How do you keep love alive after death?” Windsor was quiet for a few moments and then said, “Sometimes I wish I knew how to make it stop.”
