Dan Stevens to Possibly Be Gobbled By Lizard in Upcoming Monster Film

Latest

Dan Stevens wasn’t killed off in an especially romantic way at the end of his tenure on Downton Abbey, and now it seems he may be in danger of death-by-monster-reptile. He has just been cast as Anne Hathaway’s ex-boyfriend in Colossal, a film about a woman who experiences a telepathic connection with a giant lizard. (No, you did not accidentally end up on Clickhole; this is a real film.)

Vulture reports that Anne Hathaway “plays a recently dumped young woman whose quarter-life crisis is interrupted by the discovery that she shares a mind-link with a monster that’s destroying Seoul.” Though Stevens’ character is the one to cast her off, he will, according to Variety, “later fight to win her back.”

The wrinkle? Jason Sudeikis will also star, so it looks as if there may be some romantic competition amongst the stomping telepathic lizard and catastrophic destruction.

The late Cousin Matthew takes on this project after wrapping up The Guest, A Walk Among the Tombstones, and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. But if pissy lizards aren’t your cup of tea, you may be pleased to know that Stevens has also been cast as the Beast in the upcoming live-action Beauty and the Beast.
