Cat Owners: Save Your Sanity With This Feline-Friendly Computer Desk

Latest

A designer in Hong Kong has come up with something that could quite possibly save the sanity of millions of cat owners.

I know exactly how most of you are reading this right now (because a lot of you have shown me photographic proof). There’s either a cat tail flicking in your face or a cat just walked in front of your screen and plopped down on the keyboard. Thankfully, one inspired designer has taken notice of your never-ending suffering. Via Time:

If your cat keeps distracting you from work by sitting on your laptop keyboard or batting at your hands, the CATable, designed by Ruan Hao of Hong Kong’s LYCS Architecture, is the perfect solution. The desk features a smooth workspace on top with a warren of cubby holes just big enough for a kitten to crawl through below. Cats’ characteristic curiosity is “greatly satisfied through repetitively exploring the unknown path behind the hole,” the designer writes. “It is a table for us, and a paradise for cats.”

I like the cat in the top picture, who is basically screaming with his eyes “WHAT THE HELL IS THIS INFERNAL CONTRAPTION YOU ARE TRYING TO IMPRISON ME IN?” The best thing about this desk is guesstimating how long it will take cats to figure out the inside of the desk is where you want them to go so they can make sure to avoid it like the plague.

So now our Cat Overlords require specially designed furniture/combat training stations in order to live peacefully among us? Fine. Your move, Team Dog.

Check out the LYCS Architecture website for more on the CATable.
