Rick Santorum's big wins in Missouri, Minnesota, and Colorado don't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but they do seem to have given his campaign a big financial boost. The campaign confirmed they raised $1 million in the 24 hours following his victories, and $800,000 of that came from online donations. That sure is a lot of money—not that much to a political campaign, sure, but think about how many birth control pills that could buy for Rick's imaginary uterus! Or how big a donation that would be to the NOH8 campaign or to Planned Parenthood. If only there was a way to ensure that the next time—if there even is a next time—Santorum wins anything, for every dollar that's donated to him an equal and opposite donation will be made to an organization that can help balance out his whackadoodle notions of what's right for this country. From the way former employees of the National Restaurant Association are talking about the sexual harassment allegations against Herman Cain, you'd think everyone's first day involved a shirtless Brad Pitt cornering them in the hallway and explaining that the first and second rule of the NRA is that you don't talk about sexual harassment at the NRA. Though at least a dozen sources have talked to major news outlets about Cain's "agressive and unwanted" behavior, it's still clear what exactly that means. So far it seems that the three alleged victims aren't interested in becoming the next Anita Hill. On the one hand, it's good that no former associate has decided to make that decision for them by saying too much to the media. Yet as a result, the charges against Cain are so vague that many Americans don't see what the big deal is. More »

The lone reasonable-seeming candidate in the whackadoo 2012 Republican presidential field seems to be former Utah governor Jon Huntsman, and even though he looks like a Mormon Billy Bob Thorton and hasn't publicly disavowed science, he's failed to make enough of an impression on voters to poll above the single digits. The only force keeping him sort of in the spotlight are his three oldest daughters, and between their mustache wearing, joke tweeting, and sharp appearances on various cable news programs, we're beginning to think should just go ahead and run for President themselves. You know what's a turnoff? Men who are picky eaters. I'm not saying it's fun in women, either, but I haven't had to live as intimately with women for a while now. So it was kind of shocking to learn that Barack Obama, our dashing president-crush-elect, is apparently rife with food neuroses. Since the campaign post-mortems started coming out last week, we've learned that the President-elect has weird aversions, hang-ups, odd pancake behaviors and a strong abstemious streak - none of which his wife, Michelle, seems to share. The historic moment we're experiencing — in which a black man could be the president of the United States of America — has lead to a colossal conundrum: What are we going to do about Michelle Obama? Over on Salon, Erin Aubry Kaplan eloquently explains why some conservatives don't "get" Ms. Obama: "She went to Princeton, excelled, retained her racial conscience but also eventually commanded a six-figure salary. All of this confuses white people mightily, far more than Barack's biracial status. In their frame of reference, Michelle has no reason to be angry and every reason to be content." Of course, she's being painted as that go-to stereotype: The Angry Black Woman. Kaplan points out: "It's interesting, by the way, how John McCain's hotheaded ways are admired as part of his so-called maverick qualities, a willingness to follow his passions and go against the grain; it's part of his essential Americanness. At Wellesley college, Hillary Clinton's alma mater, young women are split on the Clinton vs. Obama issue, The Washington Post reports. For instance: Katie Chanpong and Aubre Carreon Aguilar are both feminists and political activists. "If you're a woman, you vote for Hillary because of what it means to women everywhere," says Ms. Chanpong, a sophomore. Ms. Aguilar, a senior, says: "If I'm supposed to vote for Hillary just because I'm a woman, that's kind of sexist." The female-only school finds many of its students are having to decide what it means to be a feminist, writes Eli Saslow. "Do you vote for a woman to shatter the glass ceiling and further the cause? Or do you make an empowered, individual decision that is not confined by gender?" Ona Keller, the co-president of Wellesley College Democrats, is "hard-core Wellesley." She wears vintage ERA T-shirts, calls incoming students first-years instead of freshmen. "Everybody who knows me thinks of me as a feminist," Ms. Keller says.
