But there's a been a refreshing—if somewhat ridiculous—reversal at one Brooklyn cafe. The Tea Lounge, which is in the very child-friendly neighborhood of Park Slope, attempted to make itself less offensive to the kids in the neighborhood by covering up the nipples on a series of nude paintings that were on display in the coffee shop. Last week some of the roughly 30,000 French women who received faulty breast implants in the past decade protested outside the French health ministry, demanding that the government pay for the removal of the implants. Several of the women have developed cancer, and today officials said that if a link is established between the disease and the implants the government will pay to have them removed. They'll even spring for the cost of replacing the implants, but only if the women are breast cancer survivors, not skanks who wanted bigger boobs. More »

So, this can apparently happen: a woman's body "swallowed" her breast implant during her Pilates workout. She was performing a breathing exercise called the Valsalva when "the pectoralis [chest] muscle likely contracted and pushed the implant through the space between her ribs." The woman had received the implants after a double mastectomy, and a heart operation had also weakened her ribs. So this disturbing accident probably wouldn't happen to just anyone — but it's sad that a woman who's already been through so much had to deal with an implant getting sucked back into her body. On the plus side, she reportedly felt no pain, and doctors were able to put the implant back in the right place. More »

Thanks to photos taken at the Victoria's Secret show rehearsal by the New York Post, we now know what Miranda Kerr looks like wearing a be-tasseled bra encrusted with $2.5 million worth of diamonds. Turns out the squiggly lines on the bra, which was revealed on a mannequin last month, foretold a general Venus-on-the-half-shell theme, and Kerr will walk the show wearing not wings, but a big clamshell contraption made of silver gauze. The supermodel says that if her boobs are looking better than usual, it's thanks to breast milk. "It's milking time," jokes. "I'm still breast-feeding. I'm pumping, and it's going well." The folks at JF Ptak Science Books dug up a few images from U.S. patent reports on brassieres. These designs, created between 1929 and 1930, show how women struggled to support, shape and reduce the bustline.
