Brave Boy Sings Gospel Song Over and Over Until Kidnapper Lets Him Go

Latest

A young boy used his love of gospel to help get him through a terrifying ordeal and it just may have saved his life.

Willie Myrick, 9, was kidnapped earlier this month from the driveway of his home in Atlanta. Willie told police the kidnapper drove him around for three hours before dropping him off unharmed.

So why did the man let the young boy go? Willie told police he sang the gospel song “Every Praise” over and over until the man finally snapped and told him to get out of the car. Via USA Today:

Willie said while he was singing, the man kept cursing and telling him to shut up before eventually kicking him out. “He opened the door and threw me out,” Willie said. “He told me not to tell anyone.”

Grammy Award-winning gospel singer Hezekiah Walker, who performed the song, heard about Willie’s story and flew to Atlanta to meet him.

“I just wanted to hug him and tell him I love him,” Walker told NBC 11.

On Thursday, the community gathered at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Atlanta, where Walker performed the song along with the entire congregation and Willie, who had tears streaming down his face. You probably will too, once you see the video of this song.

Here is Walker’s version of the song:
