Behold: Scarlett Johansson Photographed Sans Makeup For Vanity Fair

Latest

A radiant and beaming Scarlett Johansson appears in Vanity Fair‘s “20th Annual Hollywood Issue,” along with some other big name stars who all ditched makeup and Photoshopping for the images.

Photographer Chuck Close worked with a rare 20-by-24-inch Polaroid camera to shoot the images; more are here.

Close said his images can be “rough,” considering today’s trend of Photoshopping celebrity images into oblivion. “I don’t do glamour shots, and they’re not airbrushed or whatever.”

Kate Winslet, Brad Pitt and Oprah Winfrey are also among the stars who posed for Close in the issue.

He said he knows his subjects give up a lot of their vanity to sit for him.

“It takes a real act of generosity and faith on the part of the subject
to go with it and give me their image without having any control over
what’s gonna happen,” said Close.
