Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has begun! At the BCBG show held today in New York City, bold color punctuated strong black lines on soft, sheer, flowy dresses. Apparently next spring will be all about bare shoulders, plunging necklines, vivid hues and touches of folkloric patterns. Fresh, contemporary, bold, but decidedly feminine, there are no nipped-in waists or tight jeggings here. Everything's breezy and body-skimming, with the bare minimum of structure. One woman brazenly cut in front of me in line — and it was the standing room only line — though maybe she was just doing it to get away from the other lady who was wearing the exact-same ruffly cream eyelit sack-dress that fashion is supposed to be paradigm shifting away from right now.
