Awesome Teen Challenges Bachmann To Constitutional Debate

High School sophomore Amy Myers is challenging Michele Bachmann to put her blathering about the Constitution to the test and debate her.

As the Minnesota Independent points out, “Politifact rated Bachmann’s statements about the U.S. Constitution’s census requirements in 2009 as ‘Pants on Fire’ false.” Myers isn’t just upset that Bachmann routinely distorts or “inaccurately applies” the Constitution of the United States, “the quality of public school education and general U.S. civics.” She’s also making all women look bad, fairly or unfairly. Myers writes,

As one of a handful of women in Congress, you hold a distinct privilege and responsibility to better represent your gender nationally. The statements you make help to serve an injustice to not only the position of Congresswoman, but women everywhere. Though politically expedient, incorrect comments cast a shadow on your person and by unfortunate proxy, both your supporters and detractors alike often generalize this shadow to women as a whole.

She proposes Bachmann meet her for a debate and fact check, “pitting my public education against your advanced legal education.” Myers isn’t even a constituent, so sadly this is likely to remain a pipe dream. But good on her for trying.
