Early on Sunday morning while people were still celebrating the new year, a fire spread through a Florida abortion clinic, entirely gutting the building. Authorities have yet to turn up evidence that the building was purposely set on fire, but the clinic has been the target of violence over the years, and it seems very likely that some nutjob decided to ring in 2012 with a little arson. The remains of Holley Wimunc, the Fort Bragg Army nurse who went missing on Thursday, have been found. Wimunc's father announced today that authorities have found the remains of his daughter in a brush fire near Camp Lejeune on Sunday. Wimunc's husband, Cpl. John Wimunc, and another Marine, Kyle Ryan Alden, have been arrested for burning a house next door to Holley Wimunc's torched apartment, although the connection between the arrests and Wimunc's apartment and death has not been made by authorities as of yet. Ugh: There is a flurry of stories today about the shoddy treatment given Indian women by some Indian men. First comes the story of 22-year-old Monika Rani, an Indian transplant living in Oak Forest, Illinois. Monika's father, Subhash Chander, is charged under arrest for setting fire to Monika's apartment on Saturday, killing her, her 3-year-old son, her husband, and their unborn child. Police and friends of the family believe that the killing was motivated by caste, or class differences — Subhash thought his daughter had married a man beneath their family. More »
