An MSNBC story on the "method" behind Michelle Obama's passive-aggressive husband-bashing "madness" reminded us of one of the more absurd statements we've read recently, courtesy Republican consultant Frank Luntz, that "the spouse of the candidate matters in less than 1 out of 100 votes." Um, maybe the article should have explained Luntz worked for fucking Giuliani? Anyway, news flash: we ARE actually electing spouses, and only spouses, in this election. Why do you think the "girl" site is paying such close attention to it, because we think we know anyone who knows how to exit the Iraqmire? The dwindling life of Elizabeth Edwards has given an interesting new lease on life to the John Edwards campaign, and it's hard to think that Cindi McCain shouldn't have maybe tried to remind us more often how she not only thought of the whole Third World adoption thing yeeears before Angelina, but was also a pillhead. (Just like us!)

The Clinton marriage is about to be the focus of the fourth presidential election in the past 15 years, and in order to save her husband's campaign Michelle Obama has to step up her game. She got a good start fooling us into thinking he had an affair; but in a campaign week that has already been dominated by tits and Terry Richardson, uh.... it's not really the issues we're fighting about anymore.
