American Apparel Uses Breasts to Promote Fair Labor Practices

Latest

American Apparel shows off yet another nearly naked woman, this time in the name of fair labor practices. Because boobs and decent pay for a day’s work are completely corollary. (Excuse me while I check my breasts and look for a paycheck to fall from the sky.) The company’s newest ad features an actual employee named Maks who has worked for the company since 2010 and is from Dhaka, Bangladesh.

“Maks doesn’t feel the need to identify herself as an American or a Bengali and is not content to fit her life into anyone else’s conventional narrative,” the company wrote according to the Daily News. “That’s what makes her essential to the mosaic that is Los Angeles, and unequivocally, a distinct figure in the ever expanding American Apparel family.”

I guess this is also why Maks isn’t really selling clothes at all; in fact, you can barely see the pants she has on (which are 100% made in the U.S.A., mind you). But given American Apparel’s history and their desperate financial situation — the company just posted crappy records for yet another year that may result in more than $100 million in losses — this topless stunt isn’t really a surprise.
