Allison Williams Positioned to Be the Breakout Star of Girls Season 3

Fashionista is worried about the whereabouts of Lena Dunham. Where is she? they wonder. All the other girls of Girls are in the magazines and she’s nowhere to be found. Could this mean that Dunham will be on the cover of Vogue soon? Who cares – right now, it’s all about Allison Williams.

Dunham was on Good Morning America Monday, where she met Cameron Diaz and new Bachelor Juan Pablo. Williams also met Juan Pablo at Live with Kelly and Michael, though he sadly was not at Today, where she made an additional appearance alone. In case that didn’t meet her quota of morning shows, she took over Hoda and Kathie Lee‘s Twitter feed for a bit as well after an appearance with the duo. As a small, perhaps insignificant comparison, when the cast was promoting season 2 of the HBO show last winter, all four showed up to Today and three of them (sans Jemima Kirke) also hit up The View. We’ll see how they all do on late night as the week goes on, though Dunham is supposed to be on Letterman Monday night.

Williams is on also on one of four covers of Elle‘s Women in TV issue (which she talked about both on Live with Kelly and Michael and Today), InStyle UK‘s February issue and Glamour‘s Mexican edition. For those who can’t count, that’s three magazine covers in two months and the year just started. Comparatively, Kirke is keeping a low profile as per the usual and Zosia Mamet has been in a mere spread in InStyle and the cover of ASOS magazine.

An HBO spokesperson told Fashionista that, like Williams, Dunham “will also have significant magazine coverage,” but didn’t say more than that. This influx of Allison Williams-related content could be just the result of your usual television promotional attempts, wherein Williams is the most likable of all the members of the cast who happens to play the character whose boyfriend notably left at the end of last season. Or Allison Williams could be trying to take over the WORLDDDDD and really using this opportunity to cement the fame she gained during the season she actually was a breakout star – you know, season one – into the real deal.
