All I Want For Christmas Is Another Episode of DirtCast

Mariah Carey is many things to many people: mother, daughter, occasional PR disaster, and, above all, an elusive chanteuse. But is she the Queen of Christmas? We at Dirtcast know the answer in our hearts, but felt it necessary to interrogate what has now become a central question during the holiday season for ourselves.

This week, we were joined by Jezebel senior staff writer Rich Juzwiak, a self-identified member of the Lambily and Mariah Carey scholar, to parse the reasons Mariah might deny her Christmas monarchy and to assess the evidence that exists. Unsurprisingly, we found that the Queen of Christmas title was something that Mariah seemingly chose for herself, either via a savvy publicist or her own true passion for the holiday spirit.

From Carey’s infamous Rockefeller Center tree-lighting flub to the “SuperFestive” version of “All I want for Christmas Is You” featuring Justin Bieber, Macy’s, and an extended scat intro, we cover the breadth of Carey’s Christmas queendom to reach our inevitable and very joyous conclusion.
