Adult Swim to Air a Musical on Police Brutality Featuring Erykah Badu

Police brutality, since it’s a heavy topic of late, will be the subject of a special musical episode of Adult Swim’s Black Dynamite.

Erykah Badu and Tyler, The Creator will voice animated characters in the special, which has the potential to be touchy and/or enlightening.

The episode is titled “The Wizard of Watts” and premieres on Jan. 10 at 10:30 p.m. Fader reports:

During the hour-long episode, the show’s hero Black Dynamite gets knocked out by a brick thrown by a rioter and catapulted into an alternate reality wherein he’s called on to defend the community against the police.

The episode’s director/co-writer Carl Jones says, “I feel it’s my job to make people laugh while using constructive social criticism to evoke thought and inspire dialogue.”
