Hey, look! It's another New York Times trend piece, only this time it's not about how people are moving to Brooklyn or how ladders are undergoing a real renaissance. No, this one is about the modern day trend of "binge watching," which, like ladders and Brooklyn, has actually been around for years.
So, no, the Times, binge watching ain't all that new, but that doesn't mean that it isn't fun to talk about or share recommendations on what to watch on Netflix, OnDemand or HBO GO the next time you take a sick day or have nothing to do on a Friday night. My old binge-y standbys are Buffy, The Wire, Doctor Who, The Mighty Boosh, Game of Thrones or pretty much any costume drama miniseries.
I can't count the number of mornings that I woke up bleary eyed from staying up too late watching some tv series (I recently stayed up until 3am watching all eight installments of the Pillars of the Earth sequel World Without End and it wasn't even that great) and I once got into a legitimate argument with a friend because she reasonably refused to watch Friday Night Lights at my insane pace. My point in all this is that I really love TV, watch way too much of it and am banking that you do to.
So please spill. What are your favorite shows to marathon watch?
