The Australian radio station that prank called the hospital where Kate Middleton was being treated for severe morning sickness may be soon be facing a criminal probe into a hoax that has mildly offended most ordinary people, deeply offended the British royals, and most likely precipitated the suicide of Jacintha Saldanha, the nurse who fielded the call.
The AP reports that British police say they've contacted Australian authorities about the possibility of launching an investigation into the hoax in which callers from the station 2DayFM impersonated Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles and received details about Middleton's medical history. Australian authorities confirmed that they would cooperate with an investigation. Meanwhile, the board of Southern Cross Austereo, the company that owns 2DayFM, has met to review company practices about shitty prank phone calls (the offending DJs have been suspended indefinitely), and chairman Max Moore-Wilton assured authorities that the company would cooperate with any investigtation.
