Salma Hayek Reveals Her Beauty Secrets: Fatty Food and Booze

CelebritiesNews

Earlier this year, Salma Hayek chronicled her early showbiz travails in Lucky, including a bout with severe acne that led to a bout with severe depression that led to some weight gain, and eventually led her to reluctantly using Accutane and being in Desperado. A star was born, etc.

Since Hollywood’s such a ruthlessly superficial place, Hayek recently returned to the pages of a magazine spread (this time in Harper’s BAZAAR) to dispense her eternal wisdom for anyone foolish enough to think that extreme dieting coupled with grueling exercise is the best way to be fit and healthy. That’s no way to maintain your sanity, explained the 46-year-old, Botox-eschewing actress. This is:

“I am on the limit of chubbiness because I love my food and my wine. It’s not the best for fashion, but it’s good for my mood,” said the Mexican-born actress. “I am happy because I eat. I am 46 — I will not have Botox. You know why? Because I eat! I eat the fat, I eat the vegetables, I eat everything. If you exercise too much and you don’t eat enough, it takes its toll on the skin. Everything starts aging. And you know what? You look miserable.”

Though Salma Hayek is hardly “on the limit of chubbiness,” she has a point — fattening food is delicious and so are vegetables, but only if they’re drenched in butter, which, as it just so happens, makes them better for you anyway.
