Chivalrous Gentleman Bret Easton Ellis Sort of Defends Paris Hilton’s Grindr Commentary

CelebritiesNews

On Thursday, non-notable person of note Paris Hilton made a yucky face and said some really bigoted stuff about gay men after someone explained Grindr to her. Quoth the personified city of lights upon a brief Grindr primer:

Ewww. Eww. To get fucked? Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They’re disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS…I would be so scared if I was a gay guy. You’ll like, die of AIDS.

Predictably, people were pissed at Paris for being so openly awful. And, honestly, who under the age of 40 doesn’t know what Grindr is at this point? It was in the Olympics and everything. Her words were so ignorant and hurtful that it seemed that no one of consequence would rally to the public defense of Paris Hilton…but, lo, a shining white knight rode in to defend the good lady’s honor, and that knight’s name was Bret Easton Ellis, the Tautological.

Defender of damseled women the world over, Ellis used his legendary Twitter scimitar to parry Hilton’s attacks, writing, “I kind of agree with Paris Hilton. As someone who has used Grindr? Paris Hilton isn’t that far off.”

These comments come a few weeks after, notes the HuffPo, Ellis criticized the rumored casting of noted gay man Matt Bomer in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, tweeting, “I am NOT discriminating against Matt Bomer because of his sexuality. ‘’Fifty Shades of Grey’ demands an actor that is genuinely into women. Get it?!?”

There’s this thing about acting…it’s like, people pretend to be things they’re not, so, Matt Bomer being a professional actor and all, his pretending to be a straight man wouldn’t be that big a deal. For what it’s worth, Ellis has previously said that, even though he “definitely” does not “identify as gay” now, he was “fairly bisexual in college,” so he’s totally allowed to sound off in defense of Paris Hilton’s comments.
