Proenza Schouler, for the Color-Blind Future-Dwelling Career Gal in You

It’s tough to know what to say about the Spring 2013 Proenza Schouler collection. It’s boxy and bright. There are digital floral prints, Mondrian-ish jackets, snakeskin accents and skirts with patent-leather shine. These women look busy, like they’re rushing to show real estate in a Blade Runner-esque super city of the future, which is cool, but these outfits? Ugly. Pretty fucking ugly. Kate Bosworth, Kirsten Dunst and Florence Welch seemed to dig it, though. I asked my coworker Madeleine what she thought and she said, “You know at the end of Romy and Michelle, when they open a store?
