Nancy Pelosi Reassures Us That the GOP Platform Is a Constipated Mess of Inconsistencies

Nancy Pelosi, the Edward Teach to the GOP’s fastidious merchant ships, answered some questions posed to her by Raw Story’s Megan Carpentier about the major differences between the way the Democratic Party platform addresses women’s issues vs. the Republican Party platform about what to do with the baby-making androids some radical progressives refer to as “women.” Basically, Pelosi (as she’s wont to do) called the GOP on its bullshit claim that it wants government out of everyone’s life, since a lot of conservative politicians are very keen on putting a person in a woman’s uterus, and maybe not so keen on putting a person “back” on the Moon.

Pelosi commented on how the Republican platform makes a sincere effort to assure women that they are incapable of making decisions about their own bodies (i.e. exert the “person responsibility” that gives so many raging boners to so many pseudo-libertarian Republicans). Although GOP politicians talk a big game about shoving the government out of everyone’s life so we can all start shooting the bison herds again during cross-country locomotive trips to the gold rush in Californee, what they really want is to cut a slew of essential programs and make it as impossible to get an abortion as it is to change the deed of a car at the DMV:

What’s interesting, though, is to hear the Republicans talk about the role of government, that it should be cut back: clean air, clean water, food safety, public safety, public education, public transportation, health, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security – except when it comes to a woman’s right to choose, they want to be right there in your bedroom with you. I respect them for their anti-government ideology – I don’t like it, but at least they’re true to their beliefs. But then they make a departure and say to women, “We don’t trust your judgment, let us do that for you.”

That doesn’t sound very bootstraps-y, now does it? Ayn Rand and her imaginary “ideal man” would not approve of such government meddling.
