Hillary Clinton Masterminding the Bin Laden Raid Is a Fun Idea But Wildly InaccurateS

A new book written by a guy who almost definitely doesn't want Barack Obama to be reelected claims that while Barack Obama nancy-danced around issuing final orders to carry out the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, in the end, it was Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who led the charge to kill the terrorist mastermind. And while imagining Hillary Clinton, warrior princess, is fun in a She-Ra movie sort of way, unfortunately the whole tale appears to be woven out of a web of bookwhoring fabrications.

According litigious conservative mouthpiece Richard Miniter, author of the book, Leading From Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide For Him, Obama cancelled raids on Bin Laden's compound three times before finally proceeding with the fateful May 2011 mission that killed the terrorist mastermind behind 9/11. Miniter claims that Clinton, eager to AVENGE HER HUSBAND'S FOREIGN POLICY FAILURES (which just so happens to be the topic of one of Miniter's other books), pushed for the raid while Obama sighed and stared wistfully off into the distance, drawing pictures of himself holding hands with Justin Bieber. Finally he was like, Ugh, FINE, Hillary. Leave me ALONE! And that's how Bin Laden was killed.

At this point it's important to note that Richard Miniter is a ridiculous human/jackass. He once filed an Equal Employment Opportunity complaint against the Washington Times, claiming he was "coerced" into a religious ceremony presided over by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon. He also once sued his publisher, claiming that the company deeply discounted the price of his work and effectively swindled him out of "jillions" of dollars. The case was dismissed. While promoting his book, he posted a picture of himself signing copies of his book next to several stacks of his books along with the caption,

SIGNING BOOKS IN MY DINING ROOM for all of the folks who ordered autographed copies through Premiere Collectibles. (My brother Liam took the shot on his iPhone.) I took off my tie from church and started signing. He digs these candid photos. My view of photos: If you're not a girl, a car, a gun or Japanese, you shouldn't be in a photo more than twice a year.

He followed that proclamation about how real men are never photographed by posting several photographs of himself and his book.

But lastly, and most importantly, he's wrong. About a bunch of stuff. Most notably, um, important dates. Media Matters writes that he contradicts himself in several places, claiming that things that took place in 2010 actually occurred in 2009. It's all over the place! And the White House has dismissed the book's claims as hogwash.

While it makes interesting alterna-history fanfiction, Hillary Clinton isn't secretly calling the shots in the Obama administration. Although this picture of Sean Hannity puffed up with pride as he holds a book called LEADING FROM BEHIND kind of makes all the lying worth it.
