The Do Something Awards honor young people making social change, as well as celebrities who do charity work. Worthwhile causes are great, but let's talk about fashion, shall we? Because some do-gooders looked good… while others looked bad, or plain old ugly.
Keeping things light and airy is good. And these pale, nearly colorless frocks on Taylor Spreitler, Nikki Reed, and Keke Palmer are quite nice.
Also in frothy pale? Lea Michele, the perpetual poised pretty pretty princess. Mullet dresses are usually icky but the gentle ruffles on iteration keep it from veering into tacky territory.
More light, airy, dreaminess: Kelly Osbourne's lilac pompadour and filmy wrap dress.
In addition to neutral tones, there were some joyfully vivid hues on the
red blue carpet. Like this acid/neon/safety orange.
It's Sophia Bush, from that terrible never-ending show about basketball and a tree on a hill. The solid color gown has simple lines, the perfect backdrop for some ornate accessories. This is my fave look in the bunch. Pure glamazon. I could picture it on Iman, Anjelica Huston, or RuPaul. That's a compliment, FYI.
More bright ideas: Jena Sims (cute blazer, regrettable romper), Adrienne Bosh, Ariane Davis.
Pops of color: Kelli Berglund wears lemon under lace and tangerine heels; Jai Rodriguez sports melon-hued trousers; Maria Menounos works candy pink.
I don't know Laura Govan (from Basketball Wives), but it's pretty obvious she's a shy, demure and modest type who sincerely hopes no one is looking at her. Avert your eyes!
A little black dress is always right for an event like this. Alek Wek, Jillian Rose Reed, Cassie Scerbo.
Ashley Greene glitters in gold. Flawless.
Dapper dudes: Tucker Albrizzi, Nick Cannon, decidedly dreamboat-y John Cho.
More fly guys: Harry Shum Jr., the funny, crush-worthy gentlemen of New Girl, noted envelope-pusher Will.I.Am.
Let's talk hemlines for a minute. Short, shorter, shortest: Disney actress Daphne Blunt is 14, Olivia Munn is 32; Nicole Murphy is 44. Interesting anthropological study happening here.
Retro stylings on Ellie Kemper, Single Ladies's Charity Shea, the former Mrs. The Artist Formerly Known as Prince, Mayte Garcia.
Great-fitting and chic dresses on Aubrey Plaza, Giuliana Rancic, Hope Solo.
Before we move on to some other stuff, check out Kristen Bell's elaborate, cool, braided 'do.
So… Here's the bad news. Awful, sorry, I love her, but AWFUL dress on Kbell. Does absolutely zero for her figure, skin tone, eye color, etc. And truly hideous things clinging to Grace Valerie and Haley Reinhart.
