Daniel Tosh Is Sorry He Told a Female Audience Member That She Should Get Hilariously Raped

Latest

Professional sayer of stupid shit Tosh.0 jackanapes Daniel Tosh says a lot of things that aren’t funny, but perhaps the least funny of his unfunny oeuvre is his plethora of rape jokes. (Knock knock! Who’s there? Your mom getting raped in the butt! Ahahahaha. Tears, you guys.) As such, it was only a matter of time before he crossed the line from stupid rape joke to downright offensive, victimizing, bullying shit. Last Friday night, he outdid himself when he told a female heckler that it would be hilarious if she got gang raped. Sweet.

According to a blog post, on Friday, a young woman and her female friend went to the Laugh Factory in Hollywood to watch some comedy. When Tosh took the stage, she wasn’t sure who he was, but remarked that he seemed really awkward. That’s so Tosh!

What transpired next is pretty awful. According to the report, he quickly fell into his rape groove, telling joke after joke about rape, followed by the observation that rape jokes are always funny. Writes the unfortunate audience member,

I yelled out, “Actually, rape jokes are never funny!”
I did it because, even though being “disruptive” is against my nature, I felt that sitting there and saying nothing, or leaving quietly, would have been against my values as a person and as a woman. I don’t sit there while someone tells me how I should feel about something as profound and damaging as rape.
After I called out to him, Tosh paused for a moment. Then, he says, “Wouldn’t it be funny if that girl got raped by like, 5 guys right now? Like right now? What if a bunch of guys just raped her…” and I, completely stunned and finding it hard to process what was happening but knowing i needed to get out of there, immediately nudged my friend, who was also completely stunned, and we high-tailed it out of there. It was humiliating, of course, especially as the audience guffawed in response to Tosh, their eyes following us as we made our way out of there. I didn’t hear the rest of what he said about me.

Five guys? Someone’s been fantasizing about sodomizing a hamburger!

After walking out, the targeted audience member spoke to a Laugh Factory manager, who was apologetic but didn’t offer her refund her tickets, but did give her two comped tickets to a future show.

The story went viral today, and Daniel Tosh issued a tepid apology for statements taken out of context. Uh, the only way that what he said on Friday would be appropriate in any context is if it was preceded by him saying, “Once, I heard a set by the least funny comedian in the world” and followed it by saying “and after he said that, I walked right over to him and kicked him in the shins.” He Tweeted, “the point i was making before i was heckled is there are awful things in the world but you can still make jokes about them. ‪#deadbabies‬.” Oy. Would have been ~*fUnNiEr*~ if the dead babies had something called rape-AIDS.
