Every year, Combos, "the hearty, pretzel and cracker snack made with real cheese" (that looks exactly like dog food), partners with some intrepid researchers to bring us the manliest cities in America. This year, number one is Oklahoma City, OK — up two spots from last year, congratulations guys!!! — with Columbia, SC and Memphis, TN ranking at second and third place, respectively.
What makes a city manly, you ask? "From its stellar hoops team to its love of pick-up trucks, Oklahoma City exemplifies the best of being a man," said Craig Hall, General Manager of Mars Chocolate North America. (The company behind — you guessed it! — Combos.)
The last three cities on the list are all in California: Oakland is 48th, San Francisco is 49th, and — drum roll, please — the least manliest city according to a lackluster snack brand is San Diego. This is "Proof, perhaps, that the Left Coast needs more manly COMBOS®," says Combos.
"I don't get that," Bill O'Reilly said on his show earlier this week. "You have beach guys, and weight lifting on the beach, and a lot of sporting activity. Why would that be the least manly?" Well, according to the press release, the study compiles "manly city data such as the number of home improvement stores, steak houses and manly occupations per capita. But even if a city has a fair share of manly traits, unmanly or 'girly' factors, like a high concentration of nail salons and fancy shopping boutiques can bump cities to the bottom of the list." There you have it, Bill! Beaches and the activities that take place on them are apparently not as manly as you assumed. I think we all have a lot to think about right now.
