The Paycheck Fairness Act would have made it more difficult for companies to discriminate against women, as well as helped those forced to sue for pay equity as a last resort get what they deserve. Since women make 77 cents to a man's dollar — the average working woman loses enough money to feed a family of four for 37 years — it sounded pretty good/crucial to us!

But the Senate GOP thought the bill was pointless at best and, in Sen. Dean Heller's (R-NV) words, "a war on free enterprise" at worst. The measure was blocked by a 52-47 vote. In case you're keeping track: Obama strongly supported the act, while Romney continuously dodged questions about it.
