Please Stop Bugging Michelle Obama About Running for Senate

She may have academic credentials that match her Commander-in-Chief husband, the popular appeal of Madeleine Albright circa 1999, and the fashion chops of Carla Bruni, but Michelle Obama wants to make it clear that she's not interested in running for Senate in 2016. In other news, people are already starting to badger Michelle Obama about running for Senate in 2016. I never thought I'd say this with this mental tone of voice, but Thanks a LOT, Hillary Clinton.

Mrs. Obama isn't the first First Lady to be asked about future Capitol Hill aspirations; in the waning years of the Clinton administration, current Secretary of State and ex-Senator Hillary Clinton was asked if she'd be launching her own political career after her husband's time in the White House was up. She responded with a Not No Way, Not No How kind of answer, and we all know how that ended up.

In 2006, an audience member at a George W. Bush event asked the then-President if his wife Laura would be Clintonizing (a word I just made up to mean "go from a First Lady to a Senator"), and he responded that she'd "never" run for office. And surprise of surprises, she didn't.

So either Michelle Obama will run for political office in the future, or she won't. But can we please focus on more important issues of the day instead of events that are 4 years away? Namely: is Bo the Dog going to run around for news cameras more, or what?
