Carly Rae Jepson's "Call Me Maybe" has managed to stay popular on the Internet for months now, claiming the hearts of your most bro-iest brogrammers and feminist-y pop culture bloggers alike. Every couple of days, a new viral tribute seems to pop up, but few have managed to garner the popularity of the Harvard baseball team's lip dub/van dance version released early last week (the original upload already has more than 7 million hits on YouTube). Just a couple of days ago, the Southern Methodist University's women's rowing team released their own version, not simply covering the Carly Rae Jepson song, but the Harvard baseball team's choreography, as well.
It was looking almost as though the locomotion of "Call Me Maybe" could not be stopped — that is, until Today invited both the SMU rowing team and the Harvard baseball team to Rockefeller Plaza for a dance-off in which both teams had to simultaneously perform their routines inside rented vans. This is embarrassing for everybody involved.
