Maurice Sendak, Author of 'Where the Wild Things Are,' Dies at 83

Maurice Sendak, author, illustrator, and all-around mensch, has passed away. He was 83.

Sendak won about every award a children's book author can win, from Caldecott Medal to the National Medal of Arts.

The New York Times is reporting that Sendak died of complications from a recent stroke in his home in Connecticut. He had lived with his partner, Eugene Glynn, for 50 years before Glynn passed away in 2007.
