Normally, airport delays are anything but adorable, though there was an exception today at New York's La Guardia Airport. A dog got loose from its cage as it was being boarded on to a plane and ran onto a runway. The puppy, a 30-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback named Byrdie, caused an approximately 10-minute delay in departures as workers tried to capture her. Port Authority spokesman Ron Marsico said at first airport personnel chased the dog, but she wasn't keen to be caught. At one point, she sat down on the runway, and eventually they got her owner off of the plane and brought her down to the runway. Then, Marsico said, "Byrdie came right to her." Aww, Byrdie is no dummy! She knows that something doesn't seem right about climbing into a metal tube that hurtles you into the air, and she knows who her friends are in this world. Still, Byrdie is one lucky lady. It's a damn good thing this situation had a happy ending, and, in fact, her fellow passengers can't even be that annoyed because her antics only delayed her own flight to Memphis by about 30 minutes. These days that practically doesn't even count as a delay.
