Huh. So it is possible for a fashion magazine to do a story that features a variety of black women's hairstyles that doesn't treat its subjects as targets for derision and classist tittering. (Franca Sozzani is all like mind = blown right now.) This editorial is from Garage magazine — Dasha Zhukova's fashionable art glossy, or artistic fashion semi-annual, you know, with the striking covers — and it stars models Ataui Deng, Jeneil Williams, Cora Keegan and Nairoby Matos. The photographer is Elle Muliarchyk (who is also the woman behind that models-saying-tongue-twisters video that I found so mesmerizing). But in my opinion, it's hairstylists Astou Toure and Thomas Dunkin who really deserve a shout-out.
