Things got a little naked yesterday at what proved to be an unusually engaging iteration of Citi's Financial Services conference when three women interrupted Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan's talk by stripping to their pink bras and shouting, "Bust up Bank of America before it busts up America."
According to an Occupy Wall Street press release, the women — Jodie Evans, Rae Abileah and Medea Benjamin — were acting on behalf of CODEPINK for International Women's Day by taking turns shouting down Moynihan at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan until security removed each of them. Business Insider was able to contact Evans, who described her exploits thusly:
I went up first, and they dragged me out. So when [Medea and Rae] got up there was no security. Medea got to give an 8 minute speech about how bad [Bank of America] was.
DealBreaker's Bess Levin offers a more vivid account of the protest:
Today at the Citi Financial Services conference at the Waldorf: a woman in a low-cut dress came down the aisle during Brian Moynihan's presentation and started chanting "bust up Bank of America before it busts up America" (she also had the slogan written across her shirt). They cleared her out and then another one came onto the stage, elbowed Moynihan out of the way and took the microphone to do the same thing– security hauled here away before she could strip. Then a third one jumped on a table in front of the stage, pulled off her top– had the slogan written across her rack– and started chanting. It took a good 1-2 minutes to get her out of there.
Many attendees complimented Moynihan's aplomb in the face of the nearly-naked protesters — he continued his talk with the ever-faithful transitional phrase "As I was saying," as if he'd merely been interrupted by someone's ill-timed coughing-fit. Such a dry, insensible reaction can mean only one thing — Brian Moynihan is a soulless banking robot programmed to make our dealings with Bank of America as frustrating and inconvenient as possible.
