Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley has signed a bill legalizing gay marriage in his state. The bill will take effect in 2013. Predictably, conservatives are trying to overturn the bill by putting it to a vote in the November election. They need 56,000 signatures in order to do so, and are reportedly relying on the support of "churchgoers who oppose same-sex marriage as a matter of faith." At Hope Christian Church on Sunday, a spokesperson for the Maryland Marriage Alliance creepily said, "We will have the last say on how marriage will be defined in Maryland."
